The proposal provides for: the replacement of frames and casings, the upgrading of heating systems and relating automations, the replacement of lighting fixtures with new LED lights and control sensors, the insulation of roofs and housetops, the installation of a PV system at the Primary School of Psara.

Amorgos Heritage Route

As an island of mild development, the conservation of the landscape and the traditional lifestyle ensures an authentic travel experience, which can be based in hiking tours. The project concerns the replacement and completion of the existing signposting according to the specifications defined by the new Greek legislation.

Digital application for the promotion of the natural, geological and cultural heritage of Antiparos countryside

The Municipality of Antiparos, through its Public Benefit Enterprise, financed the development of a Hiking Trail Network, in order to raise environmental awareness and familiarize the island’s residents and visitors with the countryside of Antiparos. With this project, the Municipality aims at the development of a digital dynamic content for the promotion of the natural and folkloric heritage of its trails.

Digital tour guide of Kimolos geocultural heritage

The project concerns the promotion of the geological wealth and geological routes of Kimolos, through a digital application for smart devices and the projection of digitized content with augmented reality technologies. Visitors of Kimolos will have the opportunity to get familiar with island’s geology and enjoy their tour.

Kythnos Cultural Route

The Municipality of Kythnos financed the design of the thematic tour “Cultural Route of Kythnos”. The design was based on the promotion of the characteristics of natural and cultural heritage, which were suggested by the local community itself through a series of participatory design process. The project concerns the perfect planning of routes’ marking, but also the points of interest that are being promoted through this thematic tour.

Development of a Hiking Trail Network of the Municipality of Milos

The Municipality of Milos with the support of DAFNI ensured the funding of the forest study for the promotion of its trails through the Consignment Deposits and Loans Fund. The project ensures the approach of places of natural and geological beauty and at the same time the promotion of sightseeing in routes with a total length of 74 km. During the implementation of the project works for the improvement of trails’ walkability and works for the perfect trails’ marking and visitors’ information will be carried out, and the funding was approved by the RDP Program 2014-2020.

Exploitation of the geological and mining history of Serifos for the development of the geotourism – Procurement of Geocultural Routes Marking

Serifos is characterised by rich geodiversity, biodiversity, cultural heritage and folk tradition. Digital Tour in the Routes of Environmental and Rural Interest of Folegandros

From the ancient years the trails of Folegandros have been for inhabitants the main passage system between the settlements and the places of rural and livestock farming activities. The developed livestock farming of the area and the existence of traditional cobbled streets and trails for the access to farmhouses, coasts and places of rural and environmental interest played a crucial role for the development of the Hiking Trail Network. The project concerns the development of a Digital Tour Guide in island’s routes of high environmental and rural interest with the use of portable devices.

Enhancing hiking trails

Call title: Actions for the Protection and Promotion of the Natural Heritage in the Small Islands of the South Aegean Region

This project concerns the implementation of mild interventions aiming at enhancing the natural heritage of the Kalamos Anafi Peninsula, as well as public information and awareness-raising actions, and actions for the promotion of hiking trails as a thematic tourism product. The interventions are aimed at the enhancement and promotion of a 10.6km hiking trail connecting Chora to the top of Kalamos, both protected areas included in the National Sites List of the European Ecological Network Natura 2000.

Enhancing the Dryopida cave in the Municipality of Kythnos

Call title: “Actions for the Protection and Enhancement of the Natural Heritage in the Small Islands of the Region”

This project concerns carrying out the necessary works for the enhancement and operation of the Katafyki Cave in the village of Dryopida on the island of Kythnos and in particular carrying out electric lighting works and works for the protection of visitors’ passageways inside the Cave, aiming in particular at showcasing the Cave’s morphological characteristics and rocks. There is also provision for the development a digital audio tour application.

A Digital Tour Guide of cultural routes in Parikia, Paros using mobile devices

Call title: Developing digital applications in the field of culture to enrich the tourism experience

The proposal provides for the development of a digital application to be used when exploring the Cultural Routes of Parikia, with an aim to help visitors physically orient themselves in the area, including an audio tour. Users will be able to walk around the recommended points of interest along the routes and go through a wealth of information and documentation materials.

Digital tour of the folk culture and rural economy of Kythnos

Call title: Developing digital applications in the field of culture to enrich the tourism experience

The proposal concerns the development of digital applications aiming to enhance the cultural stock of Kythnos, by means of exploring the cultural resources of traditional settlements and the sites of the island’s rural economy. The visitor will first come into contact with the cultural stock of Kythnos, through points of folk interest in the villages of Chora and Dryopida, and then through points of interest of the island’s rural economy.

Energy upgrading of the street lighting network of the Municipality of Patmos

The purpose of this project is the energy upgrading of the street lamps network in the Municipality of Patmos, which will contribute to significant energy savings, lowering of municipal costs for street lighting and maintenance of related equipment and finally contribute to the protection of the island’s environment and biodiversity.

Supplying the equipment to enhance an Interpretation Route of Natural and Cultural Heritage

The proposed Interpretation Route of Natural and Cultural Heritage extends from Agios Ioannis all the way to the abandoned rural settlement of Gera and ends at Koutsoubas peak. The area of intervention is characterized by a unity of natural and man-made environment with important ecological values and remarkable geological formations. The proposal provides for the supply of Welcome Signs, Behaviour Rules Signs while visiting Natura 2000 protected sites, Interpretation Signs and Interpretation Signs with a stand to facilitate the accessibility of visually impaired visitors. It also provides for the supply of woodworks and equipment for the observation of wild avifauna and the preparation of a bird watching pocket guide.

Development of a digital navigation tour guide

The proposal concerns the development of a digital navigation tour guide to the monuments of nature and culture found in the countryside of Rhodes. The synchronous navigation tour guide will work as an application for smart iOS and Android devices. The proposal provides for: collection, recording, digitization and digital processing activities, and the development of a digital tour guide.

This proposal concerns the enhancement of Nisyros geological routes through the development of a digital application for smart devices. Visitors will be able to get acquainted with the island’s geology and explore it using augmented reality technologies, enriching their experience.

Enhancing a network of hiking and cycling trails

This proposal includes simple maintenance of paths, works to improve paths and add signage for the best possible touring experience of visitors. Through the proposed interventions, the Municipality of Lipsi will be able to showcase the special natural heritage of the island chains and help preserve and protect sensitive habitats.

This proposal concerns updating the existing architectural implementation study into a forestry study in accordance with new legislation (Ministerial Decision No. 151344/165 (GG 206/Β/30-01-2017) – Definition of technical specifications for the design, marking, opening and maintenance of mountaineering/trekking/hiking trails) as well as carrying out works to improve the accessibility and signage of trails.
