The Inaugural Conference of the Integrated Project LIFE-IP CEI-Greece “Circular Economy Implementation in Greece” was successfully held on Thursday, January 21, 2021. DAFNI, as a strategic partner of the project, participated with the presentation “Challenges and prospects for the islands in the field of Bio-Waste management based on the principles of the Circular Economy”.
During the conference, the crucial contribution of the LIFE-IP CEI-Greece project in the implementation of the National Waste Management Plan, the National Waste Prevention Plan and the National Strategy for Circular Economy was highlighted, promoting practices and behavior change to increase the product life cycle, the waste conversion into resources and the effective implementation of the new EU waste legislation. DAFNI presented the challenges and opportunities for bio-waste management in insular areas emphasizing that bio-waste is a priority for the Circular Economy and their proper management will enrich local communities with multiple environmental, economic and social benefits.
The conference was organized by the Ministry of Environment and Energy in collaboration with the Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency (NECCA), the Green Fund and the other project partners.
