Citizens Acting on Mitigation Pathways through Active Implementation of a Goal-setting Network

CAMPAIGNers aims to make low-carbon lifestyles a major part of the solution to climate change by providing the best possible and highly impactful scientific support to designing mitigation pathways and policies and by creating immediate engagement of citizens in climate actions and supporting them in adopting a more climate-friendly lifestyle. CAMPAIGNers will implement a ‘goal-setting network’, where over 100,000 citizens receive and create challenges to try out tailored adaptations to their daily routines via an engaging app. Their responses to these challenges, associated treatments, and short questionnaires will deliver unprecedented data of behavioural processes, (local) barriers to change, and motivators, allowing for empirically-based scientific support of cities in crafting policies to encourage low-carbon lifestyles.

DAFNI Network will be responsible for supporting the Greek living lab (Skopelos) with contribution during the whole duration of the program mainly on identifying opportunities to improve climate-harming lifestyles and the scope of political action as well as designing and testing the first round of challenges.

Pilot islands

Skopelos is a CAMPAIGNers’ partner and participates in the project as a Lighthouse City. DAFNI is ensuring the technical support of the Municipality of Skopelos as well as, in a second phase, the dissemination and replication of the results on the neighboring islands of Skiathos and Alonissos that are also members of DAFNI Network.

Expected benefits

Skopelos followed by Skiathos and Alonissos will capitalize on the valuable experience acquired through the project towards the development of a medium-term strategic energy plan that will define the islands’ vision towards a sustainable and climate-neutral future.
