Marilena Vlachou comes from Cyprus and is one more NEET who participates in YENESIS. In the framework of the project and the one-month internship she came to Greece on the island of Alonissos in August 2020. In collaboration with the Municipality of the island and DAFNI Network, she was engaged in various activities. She had the chance to be part of the operation team of the brand new underwater museum of Alonissos. In addition, she interviewed professionals from various industry areas (restaurant and catering industry, hotels) for the required data collection for her research on waste management.
Marilena describes her experience:
“YENESIS is a program designed for young scientists and emerging entrepreneurs who want to expand their knowledge and skills in the fields of energy efficiency, RES, sustainable tourism and sustainable transport. Through the program I was given the opportunity to work on the island of Alonissos in August 2020 and to train on issues related to sustainable development using alternative forms of tourism. This month was very constructive both for the knowledge and experience I gained during my collaboration with experienced professionals in the field, and for the opportunity I had to get to know the island and its people better”
